Description:

CD Projekt Red is a Polish video game developer founded in 2002 as a subsidiary of CD Projekt. It is based in Warsaw and is part of the CD Projekt capital group, which also includes overseas entities such as CD Projekt Red Inc. in the United States and CD Projekt Red Vancouver Studio Ltd. in Canada.

The studio’s first major project was the role‑playing game The Witcher, whose development began in 2003 and which became the best‑selling game in Poland after its 2007 release. CD Projekt Red later developed The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings (2011) and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (2015), along with its expansions Hearts of Stone (2015) and Blood and Wine (2016), as well as titles such as Gwent: The Witcher Card Game and Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales.

The company is also known for Cyberpunk 2077, an action role‑playing game announced in 2012 and released on 10 December 2020, set in a futuristic cyberpunk world where advanced technology coexists with a corrupt society. In May 2022 an anime series based on the game, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, was announced.

In 2008 CD Projekt Red became part of the CDP Investment holding, which later merged with Optimus; through subsequent reorganizations the studio became a division within CD Projekt S.A. In 2023 employees at the company formed what has been described as the first trade union in the Polish video game development sector.
