The number of blockchain projects is tremendously high nowadays. Honestly, they pop up like mushrooms, especially play to earn ones. Lost Relics falls into this category. You probably have not heard of it yet… and the only reason it is going to change is this video.
Let’s start! First of all, I have to tell you what Lost Relics actually is. It is play to earn game, based on blockchain. The project remains mix of Diablo and Torchlight. The game is very simple compared to previously mentioned titles, but still very complex and maybe even the most complex, when you compare it with all the other blockchain games. Is it not weird, that so, few people heard about it? It actually isn’t… and I will tell you why. “Lost Relics” is an amazing example how to NOT run blockchain projects. There are couple reasons why that is:
The game is over two years old and it was created by just one man. - Cliff "Argus" Cawley. On the one hand it is very impressive. But on the other hand, considering that the project is over 2 years old and still doesn’t have a team of developers even though on Lost Relics discord you can find the information, that there are some more people involved in the project but we have no proof of that so it seems to be quite lame. During all this time the founder has not built even a small team of developers. It seems to me that, Cliff is not very interested in developing his game (maybe it is just a hobby for him?) or he really does not know how to handle this kind of project. He absolutely has the right to run it however he wants and I have the right to make my own opinion about it as a client. I would say that, without a good developer team, Lost Relics will be crushed by the upcoming blockchain games in 2022. This project has a lot to be worry about.
Another thing which is not acceptable, when it comes to creating a high quality game is a recurring problem with updates. As you may imagine they do not appear often, but there is something more… Bugs and problems which are present most of the time. During the last year the situation, where a new update had not been tested well. In some of cases the game was shut down for more than 24 hours. Sure, many may say, that this is just pre-alpha game version and it will change in the future. But what future? Based on the fact how slow the process of Lost Relics development goes we can expect alpha version in more or less 20 years… By that time entire universes will have been created and destroyed.
Marketing is the key to success in every business. Unfortunately, this is another problem of Lost Relics. The project does not have a proper marketing campaign. It’s another proof confirming that the game creator does not want Lost Relics achieve greatness. The project needs new blood and new players. Without them the game universe is empty, boring and there is nobody to buy game’s NFTs.
There are three currencies in the game: Gold, Shadow Stones and Enjin Coin. Gold is used purely for buying and selling virtual objects. When it comes to Shadows Stones you can trade them for NFTs. Shadow Stones you can find in the game or exchange Enjin Coin for them. You may be already confused, but it’s not over. If you would like to withdraw founded Shadow Stones, unfortunately you cannot do it. You are only allowed to withdraw Shadow Stones, which you deposited before. I have to say it is a really weird approach. Besides that, the currency is not available on any exchange or swap. Without changing the whole game currency system and creating one easily accessible token, Lost Relics will stack.
Lost Relics has three main problems I raised. It’s very valuable to learn by the game creator’s mistakes. It may be an amazing lesson for everybody who wants to run its own blockchain game. I really hope all mentioned issues will be fixed in the future. I keep my fingers crossed for that, because I believe Lost Relics may become a marvelous game.
